The Legend of Caroling

The Legend of Caroling

The Legend of Christmas Caroling & Wassailing ✨🎶

Did you know Christmas caroling began long before it was called caroling? In Medieval England, groups would go wassailing - singing door to door to wish good health and blessings in exchange for warm cider or a treat! 🍎🍷

The word wassail comes from the Old English phrase Waes hael, meaning be well or good health. These joyful songs soon became part of Christmas celebrations, evolving into the carols we know and love today. 🌟

By the Victorian era, caroling had become a beloved tradition - families and choirs gathered under twinkling lights, singing of peace, joy, and goodwill to all. ❤️

Whether it’s Silent Night or Deck the Halls, every carol carries that same spirit of warmth, kindness, and community -a beautiful reminder of what Christmas is all about. 🎄✨

🎶 My favourite carol is Silent Night, with a close second being O Holy Night both give me goosebumps every time! What’s your favourite Christmas carol to sing or listen to? 🎤💫
